Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Abbotsford, BC
Salary Range: $100,000 - $135,000 (based on experience)
Our client, a well-established Canadian engineering consultancy with a strong presence across Western Canada, is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join their Abbotsford office. This firm provides integrated geotechnical, environmental, and materials engineering services to public and private sector clients across infrastructure, transportation, land development, resource, and industrial sectors.

The Role
As an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and delivering geotechnical projects from proposal stage through to completion. The position is primarily office-based, with periodic field involvement depending on project needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing geotechnical investigations and studies
Preparing proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates
Authoring technical reports and client deliverables
Overseeing and participating in drilling programs, instrumentation, and construction monitoring
Conducting field reviews and forensic investigations
Performing geotechnical analyses including slope stability, settlement, stress/deformation modelling, and foundation design
Supporting cost control, scheduling, and resource planning
Mentoring junior engineers and technical staff
Building and maintaining strong client relationships
Occasional travel to project sites and regional offices as required
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geological Engineering
5+ years of relevant geotechnical consulting experience (Canadian experience strongly preferred)
Graduate degree (M.Eng., M.Sc., Ph.D.) considered an asset
Demonstrated experience in foundation design and analysis is an asset
Eligibility for registration with
Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Proficiency with common geotechnical analysis software
Valid Class 5 driver's license and willingness to work in field environments when required
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
