Geoscience / Geotechnical Lead
Location: North America–based (United States or Canada)
Preferred locations: Alaska; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; Vancouver, BC
Purpose of the Role
As a Senior Associate Technical Consultant – Geoscience / Geotechnical Lead, you will provide senior technical leadership and delivery coordination for complex geohazard and geotechnical scopes on large, schedule‑sensitive infrastructure projects. The role involves leading multidisciplinary delivery teams, coordinating technical inputs across disciplines, and ensuring consistent, high‑quality outcomes through investigation planning, interpretation, and field execution phases.
This position will be based in a Worley office in Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; Vancouver, BC; or Alaska, with a hybrid work schedule. The role is not intended for offshore or remote‑only delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the delivery lead for geoscience and geotechnical scopes on major infrastructure projects
Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams of geoscience and geotechnical professionals
Coordinate technical inputs across engineering, project management, and construction teams
Define investigation strategies, interpretation workflows, and technical execution plans
Oversee field investigation programs, including coordination with subcontractors and laboratories
Review and approve technical deliverables for quality, consistency, and defensibility
Identify and manage technical, schedule, and delivery risks
Mentor senior and intermediate staff and support capability development
Support proposals, planning studies, and early‑phase technical development as required
Required Qualifications
Degree in Geoscience, Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
Typically 15+ years of relevant experience delivering geoscience and/or geotechnical scopes for infrastructure or resource projects
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams
Strong grounding in geohazards and geotechnical investigation and interpretation
Proven ability to deliver and review customer‑ready technical deliverables
Eligibility for professional registration in a North American jurisdiction (or ability to obtain)
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Travel / Field Expectations
Moderate travel is expected, including periodic site visits and short‑term field assignments during critical phases.
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is $183,221 to $269,443. Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
