Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: General Production Worker – Machine Operator (Saw Room) Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday - Friday Location: Abbotsford, BC Payrate: $26/hr - $28/hr Job Description The General Labourer – Saw Room plays a key role in a busy manufacturing environment by measuring, cutting, and handling pipe materials. This position operates various saws and hand tools to prepare materials according to production requirements while consistently maintaining quality, safety, and housekeeping standards. Responsibilities Measure and cut pipe materials to specified lengths using bandsaws, roller saws, chop saws, and other appropriate cutting equipment. Read and use tape measures accurately to ensure correct dimensions and tolerances. Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently to support cutting and material preparation activities. Load, unload, move, and organize pipe materials and finished products within the designated work area. Inspect raw materials and finished cuts to verify quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with production requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with housekeeping and safety standards. Perform basic cleaning of equipment and promptly report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance concerns. Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements at all times. Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers to meet production goals, deadlines, and daily targets. Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall production operations. Required Essential Skills 1+ years of experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Strong attention to detail when measuring, cutting, and inspecting materials. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with industrial machinery. Hands-on experience with hand and power tools for at least 6 months. Proficiency using a tape measure to read and interpret measurements accurately. Experience operating or working around forklifts in a production setting. Ability to read and work from basic blueprints or production drawings. Reliability and willingness to follow established safety procedures and production processes. Ability to work effectively as part of a production team in a fast-paced environment. Nice to Have Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in plastics manufacturing is an asset. Background working with hot food-grade oil (such as glycol) is considered an advantage. Experience working with PVC materials in an industrial or construction setting is beneficial. Construction experience that involves physical labour and tool use can be relevant. Previous shift work experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset. Propane counterbalance forklift certification is preferred. Comfort working overtime when required to support production demands. Willingness to learn new processes and move into different roles as opportunities arise. Why Work Here? Standard manufacturing personal protective equipment is required, and gloves to protect arms are provided. The typical shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with additional overtime as needed to meet production demands. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Abbotsford, BC.
