Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description This role involves working on production lines to support general labour activities such as packing, boxing, and packaging a variety of baked goods. You will handle repetitive tasks, operate production and packaging equipment, and contribute to efficient, safe, and high-quality output across multiple production areas. Responsibilities Perform general labour tasks on production lines, including packing, boxing, and packaging baked goods. Work on the cakes line for new products, such as brownies, while remaining flexible to support other production lines as needed. Align trays, place product into trays, and remove trays from production lines for further processing or boxing. Package and box products such as muffins, crumpets, cakes, bagels, English muffins, and cookies according to established standards. Load and unload trays and products on the production line, ensuring items move efficiently through each stage of production. Operate or assist with machine operation as required, following safety and operational procedures. Perform repetitive tasks with consistency and attention to detail to maintain product quality and uniformity. Support quality assurance activities on relevant lines, including visual checks of products and packaging. Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including safe lifting practices when handling items up to 30–50 lbs. Participate in cross-training across different plants and production lines to provide coverage wherever needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper handling of packaging materials and finished products. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and respond to changing production needs. Essential Skills General production and manufacturing experience, particularly in packaging and packing roles. Experience working as a packaging operator or production line worker. Ability to perform general labour tasks, including repetitive motions and standing for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs or 50 lbs safely and repeatedly as required. Comfort working with repetitive tasks in a fast-paced production environment. Comfort working across multiple production areas and lines, including cakes, muffins, crumpets, bagels, English muffins, and cookies. Willingness to be cross-trained and work in different plants and roles as needed. Basic ability to operate or assist with machine operating tasks on production lines. Attention to detail to ensure accurate packaging, boxing, and product handling. Commitment to following safety procedures and workplace guidelines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a packaging operator, production line worker, or general production worker in a food or manufacturing environment. Comfort working in environments with varying temperatures, including mildly hot and hotter areas. Ability to adapt quickly to different tasks, products, and production lines. Work Environment The role is based in a multi-plant production facility with five buildings, and team members work primarily on the cakes line for new brownie products while also being cross-trained across all areas. Plant 1 focuses on muffins in a non-hot environment, where team members align trays, cup products, remove trays, and box items. Plant 2 handles crumpets and similar products, with a focus on packaging and boxing in a non-hot environment. Plant 3 includes cakes packaging, bagels, and English muffins in a hotter environment, where team members load and unload bagel trays and package cakes into boxes. Plant 4 focuses on cookies in a mildly hot environment, with duties including packaging, quality assurance, and boxing. Team members must be comfortable working in different temperature conditions, performing repetitive tasks, and handling physical activities such as lifting up to 30–50 lbs. The environment is production-focused, with standard manufacturing safety practices and equipment in place, and employees receive cross-training to support flexibility across plants and lines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ancaster, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.70 - $21.30/hr.
