Job Title: Production Worker
Job Description
This role involves working in a fast-paced metal production facility where you will receive comprehensive training on all aspects of the production process. You will begin in the shear machine area sorting by size and will progressively learn bending, cutting, and safe material handling using overhead cranes and, if applicable, forklifts. Over time, you will train on multiple pieces of production equipment and move into the area that best aligns with your skills for long-term placement. The position requires continuous handling of materials weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the shift.
Responsibilities
Sort material in the shear machine area based on size and ensure it is directed to the correct production stations.
Learn and operate bending, cutting, and shearing equipment according to established procedures and safety standards.
Safely move material throughout the shop using an overhead crane and, where experience allows, a forklift.
Operate production equipment such as overhead cranes, shear machines, bending machines, and related tools after completing training.
Handle and move and other metal materials continuously, including lifting up to 50 pounds throughout the duration of the shift.
Use hand tools and power tools to support production activities, fabrication, and material preparation.
Support metal fabrication and rebar handling tasks, including bending, cutting, and inspection of fabricated materials.
Follow detailed instructions from shop supervisors and team members to learn the layout, workflow, and processes on the shop floor.
Essential Skills
At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment performing labor-intensive duties.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and operate manufacturing equipment such as overhead cranes, bending equipment, and shearing equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the entire shift.
Experience working in production or general labor environments.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with repetitive material handling.
Willingness to train on and operate overhead cranes and other production machinery.
Strong focus on safety and adherence to safe work practices.
Reliability in attending scheduled shifts and working extended or weekend hours as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience operating an overhead crane.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
Machine operator experience with equipment such as overhead cranes and rebar handling machinery.
Metal fabrication experience, including cutting, bending, and inspection of metal components.
Previous experience working with fabrication inspection processes.
Forklift experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
Why Work Here?
You will join a team-focused environment that values integrity, safety, and long-term growth. The organization offers a benefits and retirement savings program upon hire, along with a yearly profit-sharing structure that rewards collective success. You will receive a spending allowance for personal protective equipment and have access to regular team-building events such as barbecues and pizza gatherings, fostering a strong sense of community. The culture emphasizes understanding each team member’s motivation and supporting their long-term development, including opportunities to be trained and certified on various machines and tools, creating clear pathways for career growth.
Work Environment
The role is based in a clean rebar production facility that can become loud and dusty, with cooler temperatures in winter when bay doors are open. You will work closely with one of the shop supervisors and team members during your first few weeks to receive hands-on training on manufacturing equipment and to learn the shop floor layout and processes. The facility operates with approximately 35 individuals on day shift and 35 on night shift, creating a busy and collaborative environment. The work is fast paced and involves lifting and moving material throughout the entire shift, with safety as a top priority and a strong emphasis on promoting safe working procedures. The position is expected to transition to a weekend shift schedule of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, working 12-hour days, likely on day shift with a shift premium. For the next several months, the schedule will follow an afternoon shift from 1:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with an additional hourly premium. The dress code requires 6-inch steel toe boots, a long sleeve shirt (with arm guards worn to protect against cuts), and either jeans or cargo work pants, with no sweatpants allowed. Ear plugs, safety glasses, and a high-visibility vest are provided to support a safe and compliant work environment.
