Job Details General Labourer Sparksman Transportation is currently looking for a skilled General Labourer to join our team in Fort McMurray. Sparksman Transportation is a transportation company specializing in School Busing and Charters. We are actively seeking a skilled Labourer with experience with small equipment such as a skid steer and forklift. This position will work to ensure all projects are done safely and on schedule and offers immediate employment with the potential for long-term employment. Shift: Monday through Friday, hourly, flexible schedule, up to 30-40 hours perweek Duration: 3-month temporary contract with the possibility of extension Location: Sparksman Transportation Ltd. MacLennan Crescent, Fort McMurray, AB Compensation: $30.00 per hour Responsibilities Operate all assigned equipment safely and effectively; specifically skid steer and forklift Maintain equipment by conducting simple preventative maintenance and thorough safety inspections Assist in the mechanic shop with housekeeping duties and complete general property housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe and clean work environment Complete safety paperwork and attend meetings when required Ground keeping and snow clearing, depending on the season Learn, understand, and adhere to the Company’s safety procedures as well as provincial regulations Complete various physical and manual labour tasks, such as, but not limited to, cleaning, painting, small construction projects, snow clearing, and building maintenance Safely operate hand and power tools and various other equipment and instruments Operate company vehicles following the Company’s policies and procedures and provincial traffic laws Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance Complete other duties that may arise occasionally and may be assigned to the Employee by Supervisor(s). Qualifications Capable of physical labour and lifting up to 50 lbs Punctuality and reliability are critical for this role Previous construction experience required, minimum of 2 years Skid steer and forklift experience required and safety ticket considered an asset Ability to take direction and work effectively in a small team in a high-performance, safety-conscious environment Ability to adapt to new working environments Basic computer skills: Outlook, MS Teams, Excel, etc. Must have own CSA approved steel-toed safety boots above ankle height Must have own reliable transportation to and from work Requirements Minimum class 5 driver's license (Class 2, Class 1, with S endorsement or Q endorsement considered an asset) Drug and Alcohol Test Driver's Abstract required First Aid Certification Working Conditions Willingness to adjust schedule for operational needs is required Ability to work in all weather conditions for extended periods Capable of standing for long durations and lifting 50 pounds What We Offer In-town work, short commute, Monday through Friday schedule, no evenings/weekends, or shift work Competitive compensation Benefits package (if transitions into a permanent position) On-the-job training and driver training included Thank you for your interest.
