Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: General Laborer Job Description The General Laborer performs a variety of physically demanding tasks in a manufacturing plant, including operating hand and power tools and working with automated assembly equipment and robotic weld cells. This role focuses on assembling products efficiently and accurately, while consistently following established procedures, safety protocols, and workplace policies to support high-quality production. Responsibilities Inspect and check parts for defects to ensure products meet quality standards. Operate and tend automated assembly equipment, including robotic and fixed automation systems. Use small hand tools such as grinders and buffing wheels to complete assembly and finishing tasks. Identify, record, and report defects or non-conforming parts in a timely and accurate manner. Follow all applicable safety legislation under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and comply with internal safety policies and procedures. Clean and prepare the work area, maintaining an organized and safe workspace. Perform repetitive assembly tasks while standing for extended periods to support continuous production. Handle materials and components safely, including lifting items up to 30 pounds as required. Essential Skills Minimum 6 months of manufacturing or assembly experience, preferably in an automotive or general manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience operating automated assembling equipment, including robotics and fixed automation. Proficiency using small hand tools such as grinders and buffing wheels. Experience performing quality inspection, including inspecting and checking parts for defects. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds safely and repeatedly. Ability to stand constantly and perform repetitive assembly tasks throughout the shift. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and document defects accurately. Commitment to following safety procedures and regulations, including OHSA and company safety policies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a high-volume production or automotive manufacturing setting. Familiarity with robotic weld cells and automated assembly lines. Comfort working with both hand and power tools in a fast-paced environment. Reliability and flexibility to work different shifts, including days, afternoons, and nights. Ability to work effectively as part of a production team and follow instructions with minimal supervision. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing plant that operates automated assembly equipment and robotic weld cells. You will regularly use hand and power tools such as grinders and buffing wheels and will work in a production environment that requires standing for most of the shift and lifting up to 30 pounds. The position follows a rotating shift structure, with initial training on the day shift for 1–2 weeks, followed by assignment to afternoons or nights. Standard shifts run as follows: days from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and nights from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The environment emphasizes adherence to OHSA and company safety policies, maintaining clean and organized work areas, and consistent use of appropriate work attire and safety gear suitable for a manufacturing setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Amherstburg, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.55 - $20.00/hr.
