Job DescriptionJob Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Construction Helper to assist with a variety of residential and commercial construction, maintenance, and property improvement projects. The successful candidate will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, performing general labor, cleanup, basic carpentry, landscaping, and repair tasks.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Site Duties
Perform general construction labor and site support activities.
Assist skilled tradespeople with construction, renovation, and maintenance projects.
Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials and equipment.
Maintain clean and safe work areas throughout the project.
Collect, remove, and dispose of construction debris and waste materials.
Sweep, vacuum, and clean work areas upon project completion.
Assist with demolition and preparation work as required.
Carpentry and Repair Work
Perform basic rough carpentry and framing tasks.
Measure, cut, and install construction materials under supervision.
Complete minor repair and maintenance jobs.
Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
Operate drills, circular saws, reciprocating saws, screwdrivers, and other common construction tools.
Property Maintenance and Landscaping
Cut grass and maintain landscaped areas.
Perform basic landscaping and grounds maintenance.
Remove weeds, debris, and other outdoor hazards.
Assist with seasonal property maintenance tasks.
Safety and Compliance
Follow all workplace health and safety regulations.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Maintain a safe, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
QualificationsRequired
Valid Ontario driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
Ability to travel between job sites in the Barrie and Orillia area.
Possess a basic set of hand tools suitable for construction and maintenance work.
Working knowledge of common construction tools and equipment.
Ability to lift and carry construction materials and equipment.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred
Previous experience in construction, renovations, property maintenance, or landscaping.
Basic knowledge of rough carpentry techniques.
Experience using power tools including drills, saws, and fastening equipment.
Familiarity with residential and commercial construction practices.
Requirements
CSA-approved safety footwear.
Appropriate work clothing suitable for construction environments.
Hard hat and other required safety equipment.
Ability to work occasional weekends and extended hours when project schedules require.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting wage:
$25.00 per hour
