Job Summary: The Senior Full Stack Developer will play a key role in driving digital transformation and service innovation within government. Working primarily with the Digital Design and Delivery Division (3D), the developer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver user-centric digital services that improve the experience of Albertans. This role involves agile development practices, human-centred design, and continuous iteration to meet evolving business and user needs. Responsibilities: Participate in project research and discovery, including field research and user interviews. Lead technical discovery and produce related documentation and diagrams. Design and develop detailed solutions based on shared understanding from discovery phases. Develop features and enhancements for exemplar projects that meet product owner needs. Identify and resolve functional and non-functional defects. Improve code quality, tooling, and documentation to enhance maintainability. Collaborate with frontend designers to ensure consistent look and feel across solutions. Advise product owners on technical implementation options to support frequent delivery. Support deployment and launch of solutions for both limited and general availability. Contribute to reusable components and capabilities to build a platform of user-centric services. Onboard new technical team members and maintain technical documentation. Adopt and improve team development and quality assurance practices and processes. Required Skills & Certifications: Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with strong skills in both frontend and backend development. Experience with agile methodologies and human-centred design approaches. Ability to conduct technical discovery and produce clear documentation and diagrams. Strong problem-solving skills including defect identification and resolution. Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to advise and communicate technical options to non-technical stakeholders. Availability to work standard Alberta business hours (8:15 AM to 4:30 PM) Monday to Friday. Eligibility to work within Canada and comply with security clearance requirements including criminal record checks and potentially enhanced security clearances. Completion of mandatory training such as Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), Access to Information Act (ATIA), Security/Cybersecurity, Information Management, and Respect in the Workplace. Preferred Skills & Certifications: Experience contributing to reusable common components and scalable platforms. Familiarity with modern data practices and digital service standards. Experience with Microsoft Teams and virtual collaboration tools. Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and deliverables. Previous experience working in government or public sector digital transformation projects. Special Considerations: Work primarily remote with occasional in-person meetings or work sessions in Edmonton (up to 10% of total hours). Must provide own computer equipment and software when working remotely; office space and supplies provided if working in-person. Must comply with all required security clearances, including potential enhanced and top secret clearances depending on project assignments. Travel within Alberta may be required for field research and user interviews; travel arrangements will be made by the Province. Must be available during standard business hours and able to accommodate potential changes to work arrangements with reasonable notice. Scheduling: Full-time position with a 7.25-hour workday, Monday through Friday, excluding provincial holidays. Standard hours are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM Alberta time with a 1-hour lunch break. Work across two to three projects simultaneously, with flexibility in time, location, and frequency depending on project needs. Maximum expected work hours per term are 1,960 hours unless otherwise agreed.
