Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Forklift Operator - Days Job Description We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Forklift Operator to join our team in a dynamic cross-dock facility. This role involves loading and unloading trailers, using a handheld scanner, and ensuring the seamless movement of freight within the dock. The position requires a proactive individual who can efficiently organize and manage tasks while adhering to directions from dispatchers. Responsibilities Load outbound trailers efficiently and accurately. Unload inbound trailers and handle loose boxes as needed. Load city trailers in order with proper freight counts. Unload city trailers, confirm freight counts, cube freight, and place in the correct location. Utilize a handheld scanner for inventory management. Follow directions from dispatchers and maintain dock cleanliness. Conduct pre-trip inspections on forklifts before each use. Essential Skills Proficiency in operating a sit-down forklift. Forklift certification and AB certification. Experience in shipping and receiving. Cross-dock and trailer handling expertise. Minimum of 2 years experience working on a dock, including shipping, receiving, loading, and unloading. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Knowledge of LTL operations and dispatch procedures. Understanding of freight paperwork and previous experience in a transportation company. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a cross-dock facility, primarily focused on ensuring efficient freight movement. The work environment is both office-based and hands-on, requiring active participation in forklift operations and manual tasks. The team is small, with tenured office staff and agency dock workers. The facility operates Monday to Friday from 6 am to 2:30 pm, with a casual dress code allowing for comfort and the required PPE. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of CALGARY, AB. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
