Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Forklift Operator / Order Picker Job Description This role involves operating various types of forklifts and power pallet jacks to pick, assemble, and ship customer orders in a refrigerated warehouse environment. You will build stable pallets according to pick lists, ensure accurate order fulfillment, and safely load trailers for outbound shipments. Responsibilities Use Crown reach trucks and power pallet jacks to pick customer orders according to paper pick lists. Select and retrieve products from designated locations and build pallets in a safe and organized manner. Stack heavier produce on the bottom and lighter produce on top to prevent damage (for example, placing potatoes on the bottom and tomatoes on top). Perform shipping and receiving tasks using a sit-down forklift as needed. Handle heavy lifting regularly while assembling and moving pallets. Follow all safety procedures when operating forklifts and working around other equipment and personnel. Essential Skills At least 1 year of experience operating a Crown reach forklift and power pallet jack for order picking. Current forklift certification, either in-house or from a third-party provider. Ability to read and follow paper pick lists accurately. Strong awareness of safety practices when working around forklifts and other warehouse equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a cooler or refrigerated warehouse environment is an asset. Comfort working around multiple forklifts and other moving equipment in an open warehouse space. Attention to detail when building pallets to protect fragile produce. Reliability and flexibility to work scheduled shifts and overtime as required. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a refrigerated warehouse where the general area is maintained at approximately 10 degrees Celsius, with coolers ranging from about 0 to 4 degrees Celsius. The space is open and active, with packagers working nearby and numerous forklifts operating throughout the facility. You will regularly use reach trucks, sit-down counterbalance forklifts, and power pallet jacks. Shifts run either from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a preference for the 9:00 a.m. shift. The schedule requires working Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, with either Tuesday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday as days off. Expect approximately 2 to 5 hours of overtime per week, depending on workload. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB.
