Position Overview
Reports to: Project Superintendent
Direct Report(s): Own-Force Site Staff
The Construction Site Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the construction site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project schedules and quality expectations.
As a leader on site, the Foreman oversees Durwests own-force crews while coordinating daily site activities alongside trade partners and subcontractors. This role plays a key part in maintaining productivity, supporting project execution, and ensuring work is completed safely and to the required quality standards.
Acting as a liaison between management, trade partners, and site teams, the Foreman helps foster a positive, accountable, and collaborative work environment while supporting the growth and development of crew members.
This position is ideal for an experienced construction leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and values teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
Areas of Work
Safety & Site Culture
Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring adherence to all Durwest safety policies, procedures, and best practices
Collaborate with the Safety Representative and Superintendent to ensure all workers follow safe work practices and site requirements
Participate actively in safety meetings, inspections, and initiatives
Maintain a continuous focus on hazard identification, risk mitigation, and safe execution of work
Ensure safety documentation and records are completed accurately and maintained appropriately
Crew Leadership & Site Coordination
Lead Durwests own-force crews and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to project standards
Coordinate daily activities between own forces, subcontractors, and trade partners to maintain workflow and minimize disruptions
Support the Superintendent in driving accountability, sequencing, and communication across all members on site
Mentor and support crew members through coaching, training, and day-to-day leadership
Maintain clear and consistent communication regarding schedules, task assignments, site coordination, and project updates
Identify and help resolve conflicts, challenges, or coordination issues that may impact site progress
Promote collaboration and positive working relationships across all site teams and trades
Ensure new crew members receive proper onboarding and orientation to the project and company expectations
Assist with manual carpentry or labour tasks as needed to support project success
Planning & Execution
Follow project schedules and construction plans to ensure daily and weekly production targets are achieved
Translate project requirements into prioritized work plans and coordinate labour, tools, equipment, materials, and work areas required for daily operations
Coordinate daily activities with subcontractors and trade partners to maintain workflow, schedule alignment, and efficient site execution
Support short-term planning and look-ahead coordination with the Superintendent, proactively identifying and communicating deficiencies, sequencing conflicts, or schedule risks
Work collaboratively with crews and trade partners to resolve challenges and maintain project progress
Quality Control
Oversee execution of work to ensure compliance with project specifications, contract documents, and quality standards
Monitor and coordinate work performed by both own forces and subcontractors to ensure quality standards, sequencing, and project requirements are achieved
Inspect completed work to ensure expectations are met and deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner
Administration & Documentation
Requisition tools, equipment, materials, and supplies required for crew activities
Maintain accurate Foreman logs and daily site records documenting progress, challenges, trade coordination, and updates
Complete daily workforce tracking and timekeeping responsibilities, including accurate recording of hours worked and attendance
Support project documentation requirements and reporting processes as required

Qualifications
Education & Experience
5+ years experience in the construction industry, preferably within commercial or industrial construction
Experience supervising and leading construction crews on active job sites
Experience coordinating subcontractors, labour, materials, and daily site activities
Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and project scheduling
Considered an asset:
Experience with carpentry and/or general construction activities
Journeyperson certification or equivalent field experience
Familiarity with construction management software and digital reporting tools
