The Position The Position: The Food Program Assistant position offers an opportunity to support the food coordination plan for shishalh Nation children (ages 5 - 11) in the Summer Fun program. This position will assist the Food Service Coordinator in ensuring that participants have access to healthy food options during the program. This position will be managed by the Wellness Centre Manager and the Wellness Centre Program Supervisor and will be under the general supervision of the Child Wellness Coordinator and other program leads. This position is from June 22, 2026 – September 4, 2026 (Monday and Friday). The Candidate: Assist the Food Service Coordinator in creating a weekly meal plan and shopping list for the Summer Fun program. Complete weekly grocery shops for the Summer Fun program. Assist in the preparation of breakfast and snack options for 4 days of the Summer Fun program per week for the 7-week duration for up to 100 children and 50 staff. Manage the kitchen area during programming and assist participants with food-related needs that arise. Manage kitchen cleaning up. Keep an inventory of kitchen supplies at Summer Fun program spaces to maintain stock and prevent food waste. Deep clean of fridges and kitchen cupboards weekly. Attend team meetings as requested. Attend training related to the position. Qualifications, Skills and Abilities: Minimum age requirement at the time of intake: 15 years old. Must be willing and able to pass a criminal record check. Food Safe Certification. First Aid Certification is an asset. Experience providing food service coordination in a recreational or educational setting an asset.
