This role requires an individual capable of bridging the gap between hardware and software, diagnosing system-level issues, and implementing effective solutions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment, focusing on code quality, maintainability, and meeting project deadlines. An appreciation for the broader philosophy of firmware development, including reliability, scalability, and effective interaction with hardware systems, is essential. Responsibilities Develop and maintain firmware for embedded systems using low-level embedded C. Diagnose and resolve system-level issues effectively. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure code quality and maintainability. Ensure firmware reliability and scalability in interaction with hardware systems. Develop device drivers and troubleshoot hardware issues. Meet product and system specifications through effective firmware development. Essential Skills 2-6 years of experience in low-level embedded C firmware development. Strong understanding of firmware, embedded C, device drivers, and hardware. Experience in the telecommunications industry, particularly with optics or photonics. Proficiency in Linux, C++, embedded Linux, embedded systems, RTOS, Python, and debugging. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with telecom, optical, and photonics modules. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kanata, ON. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
