Job Overview:
Gazifère’s Finance Team is seeking a qualified professional to fill a key succession role. As an integral member of the Finance Team, this position is responsible for executing and supporting the company’s accounting, budgeting, and regulatory cycles. The successful candidate will play a critical role in financial reporting, analysis, and decision support, while contributing to continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in month-end closing activities, including:
Preparing journal entries
Performing account reconciliations
Analyzing financial results and explaining variances
Producing financial reports related to capital management, long-term debt, dividends, payroll, and pensions
Prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly and annual financial statements, including detailed commentary on performance
Review and validate end-of-month entries and financial data accuracy
Identify, investigate, and explain significant variances across financial statements
Analyze key business drivers such as:
Volume assumptions
Distribution rates
Customer growth
Operating expenses
Capital expenditures
Income taxes
Provide accurate data, reports, and ad hoc analyses to support business decisions
Ensure financial information is reliable, consistent, and actionable
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during interim and year-end audits
Assist in preparing regulatory documentation and responses
Develop and document accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP
Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
Support investment and project evaluation activities
Continuously review and improve financial processes and reporting efficiency
Maintain and enhance financial models and analytical tools to meet evolving business needs
Build cross-functional knowledge within the Finance Team
Demonstrate flexibility by supporting a wide range of finance activities
Qualifications:
Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance
Strong knowledge of accounting standards (US GAAP required)
Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
Experience with Oracle and Hyperion (considered an asset)
Knowledge of federal and Quebec tax compliance regulations
Understanding of project profitability analysis and investment decision-making techniques (asset)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong ability to synthesize complex financial information
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Bilingualism (French and English) required
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines
Strong leadership mindset and team-oriented approach
Ability to understand and apply complex theoretical and financial concepts
