PROFILE
We are looking for a Trust Coordinator to join our Calgary office! The Trust Coordinator is responsible for providing overall support to key stakeholders on all trust transactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
P rocessing and recording incoming and outgoing trust transactions in our financial management system.
Preparing outgoing trust payments by cheque or wire transfer using online banking platforms for multiple banks.
Coordinating with Partners, Legal Assistants and Finance Management, the release of trust funds to successfully close deals.
Liaising with banks and Partners to ensure trust funds are appropriately invested and redeemed when requested.
Adhering to Law Society regulations of the corresponding jurisdictions of the trust transactions.
Obeying strict internal control policies to mitigate both external and internal risks and threats facing the Firm.
Identifying potentially fraudulent and abnormal requests.
Responding to general inquiries from both internal and external sources about policies, procedures, deadlines, and status of trust transactions while monitoring both Firm personal and shared email inboxes.
Ensuring timely clearing of unapplied funds.
Assisting with the return of dormant trust accounts.
Assisting in Trust process improvement projects.
Assisting in systems testing for Trust functions.
Providing back-up to team members nationally.
Other responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma; post secondary or diploma in accounting is an asset.
3 - 5 years related work experience, preferably in a professional services work environment.
Knowledge of accounting software and banking procedures; basic knowledge of accounting principles.
Ability to communicate with Firm members and external clients in a professional manner, providing outstanding service (internal and external).
Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of Aderant Expert accounting system will be considered an asset.
