Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Field Welder Job Description The Field Welder will install welded, fitted, and fabricated custom projects and miscellaneous metal components on client sites. This role focuses on welding lighter gauge metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, and carbon steel, and installing unique, one-off pieces in the field. You will contribute to both field and shop work, supporting custom projects that require precision, creativity, and problem-solving. Responsibilities Install welded, fitted, and fabricated custom projects and miscellaneous metal objects on client sites. Perform daily welding work with lighter gauge metals, including carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Weld custom and one-off items to meet unique client specifications and project requirements. Carry out MIG, TIG, and flux core welding in accordance with project needs and applicable standards. Fabricate and fit metal components to ensure proper alignment, structural integrity, and clean finishes. Perform grinding and finishing work on welded parts to achieve required quality and appearance. Install unique and custom pieces in the field, ensuring accurate placement and secure attachment. Operate zoom booms, scissor lifts, overhead cranes, and sit-down forklifts safely and efficiently. Complete site orientations and monitor health and safety practices during field work. Conduct health and safety inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies. Lead or manage small teams of installers when required, providing direction and support on site. Collaborate with team members to solve installation and fabrication challenges in the field and in the shop. Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment while performing welding and installation tasks. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and organized condition. Communicate effectively with clients and team members to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality results. Essential Skills Proven experience installing unique and custom metal pieces for clients in the field. Strong proficiency in welding light gauge metals, including carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. Hands-on experience with MIG welding, TIG welding, and flux core welding processes. Demonstrated ability in fabrication, fitting, and grinding of metal components. Experience welding custom or one-off items to precise specifications. CWB FLUXCORE or CWB GMAW certification. Experience managing small teams of installers in field environments. Ability to operate zoom booms and scissor lifts safely. AWP (Aerial Work Platform) certification. Experience operating overhead cranes. Experience operating sit-down forklifts. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex, custom projects. Ability to adapt to varied and unique project requirements with a high level of flexibility. Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients. Work Environment This role operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will work in smaller teams both in the field and in the shop, with approximately 16 people currently at the company, creating an environment where you can grow, learn, and make a visible impact. The work involves using welding equipment, grinders, overhead cranes, sit-down forklifts, zoom booms, and scissor lifts, as well as aerial work platforms. You will spend time both indoors and on client sites, following established safety practices and procedures while handling metal fabrication and installation tasks Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Calgary, AB.
