Basic Purpose: What is the overall function of the job?
Field sampling of various product and process streams. Seek and follow guidance provided by Team Leads, Senior PM’s and Supervisor. Ensure the production of high quality, legally defensible data and reports, safely and on time. Provide excellent customer service. Providing limited or specific technical expertise to our customers.
Key Accountability/Responsibilities: What specifically is this job expected to accomplish?
Conduct basic field sampling projects in conjunction with a more senior technologist
Review field data with assistance from supervisor or more senior field staff to ensure sampling is completed as per applicable test methods and protocols
Prepare equipment and chemicals, client confirmation and site-specific safety training, field sampling, field QA/QC of data, collection of field data, fill out daily WHA forms and daily field reports, turns over completed data to senior technologist on project in a timely manner
Perform equipment maintenance, repair and calibration at direction of Supervisor or senior field staff, with training from Senior Project Managers
Communicate with the Supervisor to ensure the correct level of supplies
Provide excellent customer service by always presenting a professional attitude and representing Bureau Veritas in a positive way; comply with all client and Bureau Veritas safety initiatives and rules; provides technical support and expertise to our clients; ensure that all Client requests and expectations are met
Ensure vehicle fleet is maintained in clean, working order
Ensure bays are kept clean at all times
Perform QA/QC of data as required by Reporting or Management
Act as an agent of positive change in supporting Bureau Veritas’s new operating and cultural initiatives
Ensure daily use of personal monitors, and use of all required PPE
Ensure use of personal gas monitors during field projects
Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy
Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
Participate, when requested in lab and Health & Safety meetings
Participate, when requested in internal and external audits
Keep work area clean, neat and organized at all times
Providing support and training to other group employees
Provide general lab support to other departments as required
Suggest and implement production efficiencies Work in compliance with all applicable Federal, Provincial OHS and worker compensation legislation
Read, understand, and comply with the company’s HSE programs, safety policies, safe work practices, procedures, and rules
Take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of your own and other workers’
Notify the Department Supervisor/Manager or Site Safety Coordinator of any unsafe conditions/acts or all other incidents that may be of danger to your own and others’ at or in the vicinity of the work site immediately
Immediately report to your supervisors/managers any workplace injuries in order to comply with the Bureau Veritas Return to Work Policy
Only operate equipment you have been properly trained on, deemed competent, and authorized to operate;
Maintain good housekeeping throughout the work areas
Inspect and wear the safety equipment and personal protection devices and clothing required by regulations and Bureau Veritas;
Refrain from causing or participating in harassment or violence
Participate in any training provided by BV Fuels
Refuse any task you feel is unsafe or that you feel you are not competently trained to perform and may cause yourself and/or others imminent danger

Skills and Knowledge: What skills and knowledge are used to carry out job responsibilities and solve problems?
2-year technical diploma or 2-3 years relevant chemistry related work experience
2-year technical diploma or 0-2 years relevant related work experience
Limited or basic understanding of well and plant processing techniques and concepts
Limited or basic knowledge of sampling methods and theories
Basic understanding of chemistry, plumbing, and electrical techniques and concepts
Willingness to travel and work extended hours in the field
Knowledge of safe work procedures and requirements
Basic knowledge of MS Office capabilities
Accurately follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and instructions
Good time-management, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
Detail orientated and record keeping skills
Demonstrated ability with problem solving, effective communication, and energetic, motivated, positive, analytical mindset.

Work is mainly out of doors, so ambient conditions must always be expected.
