Job Summary
The
Fiberglass Mold Maintenance Technician / Tooling Technician
is responsible for maintaining, repairing, refurbishing, and preparing fiberglass molds to ensure production readiness and product quality. This hands-on role supports manufacturing operations through mold inspections, preventative maintenance, surface restoration, and tooling repairs. The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, is mechanically inclined, and works safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Some of What You Will Do
Perform cosmetic and structural repairs on fiberglass molds, progressing from small surface repairs to large refurbishments.
Perform routine mold maintenance and upkeep.
Clean, wax, buff, and prepare fiberglass molds to maintain smooth, defect-free surfaces and ensure proper release during production.
Maintain mold floor textures and gelcoat surfaces to preserve finish quality and prevent imperfections in produced pool shells.
Conduct regular inspections to identify cracks, delamination, wear, warping, or structural degradation.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and repair materials to restore molds to production-ready condition.
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Assist with continuous improvement and other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Experience working with power tools and pneumatic tools preferred.
Autobody, fiberglass, composites, or mold repair experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to work overtime, including occasional Saturdays, as required.
Working Conditions
Exposure to fiberglass materials, dust, noise, fumes, and varying temperatures.
Frequent standing, bending, reaching, stooping, and overhead work.
Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
