About the Role
As an
Expansion Controller
, your main focus will be to set and implement controlling routines,
ensure financial follow-up, and support the Sales Market in delivering a profitable and
sustainable expansion strategy.
This on-site role reports into our Expansion Manager and is based out of Toronto Support
Office.
A Day in the Life
Working at H&M means no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will include the
following responsibilities*
Set and implement controlling routines and strategies in the sales market
Support all local Expansion colleagues in setting clear strategies and goals
Translate global strategies and set tangible goals and targets for your market
Own local budget and forecasting process for Leasing and C&F
Secure monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for project investments (Capex), as well as running costs for expansion function (Opex, e.g. rents, other costs)
Secure good invoice routines together with Accounting and Lease Admin
Take ownership of all relevant market data, securing data accuracy and relevance
Monitor and review sales, surplus, operational costs, and capex spend for your market
Analyze and secure that rents and data are accurate in systems and tools, together with Lease Admin
Analyze trends and deviations versus budget/targets and draw conclusions on how to improve the result
Support and train your Leasing and C&F colleagues in key analysis on major KPIs (ROI, rent levels, square meter-selling, net investment, operational costs, etc.) and feedback to global if updated tools are needed
Make sure that accurate information about the project pipeline and portfolio is available to other local departments and the central support organization (number of projects, opening/closure dates, project status, etc.)
Drive the Expansion Audit preparation and follow up work for the sales market with support from all functions
Work according to the general guidelines to ensure routines and drive improvements/actions in processes, methods and tools to minimize business risks
Secure the financial transparency on the highest level, and that each team member is aware of their responsibilities and approval rights
Collaborate closely with Leasing and C&F colleagues
Support the Sales Market Expansion Manager with analysis and business case preparation
Support the Sales Market Facilities and Construction Project Managers with budgets, forecasts, follow-up and analysis
Who You Are:
Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field
Strong understanding of accounting, financial analysis, and controlling processes
Analytical and conceptual thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities
Structured, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
Collaborative team player with strong communication and presentation skills
Proficient in MS Office
Advanced level of English, both written and spoken
Minimum 3 years of experience in auditing, accounting, or controlling, preferably within the retail industry
Proven experience in preparing and presenting financial reports to senior management and other key stakeholders
You are communicative and supportive, combining analytical, conceptual, and methodical thinking with a structured and achievement-oriented approach.

Compensation: salary range is $97,200
