The ministry also fosters stronger, safer communities across the province and enables local governments to facilitate Alberta’s economic prosperity. Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister of the Municipal Assessment and Grants Division, the Executive Director, Assessment Services Branch provides strategic direction to a multi-disciplinary, technical team of assessors and other professionals responsible for the valuation of all designated industrial property in Alberta. Fair, accurate and efficient assessment of these properties – including wells, pipelines, railway, telecommunications, and major industrial facilities – ensures an equitable distribution of tax obligations and predictable revenues for local and provincial governments. In this role, you will interpret legislation, regulation and assessment guidelines, making final assessment decisions and issuing interpretive directives under the authority of the Provincial Assessor. You will lead the provincial response to designated industrial assessment complaints and appeals, protecting the integrity and fairness of the assessment system. You will also work closely with internal and external partners to strengthen the assessment system through best practices, operational enhancements and policy advice. Qualifications A proven senior leader, you have experience managing complex organizations, resources and relationships. You excel at defining clear goals and providing your teams with the support and mentorship to achieve them. A range of skills and backgrounds may be applicable to the position and considered assets, including demonstrated experience with regulated property assessment, municipal finance and administration, municipal and administrative law, tax and revenue administration, or accounting. To perform the functions of Provincial Assessor, you must be an accredited municipal assessor of Alberta (AMAA), or hold the Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) designation issued by the International Association of Assessing Officers, or the Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) designation issued by the Appraisal Institute of Canada, or have qualifications or experience that in the opinion of the Minister are equivalent. $5,896.65 - $7,749.28 bi-weekly ($153,902.57 - $202,256.21 annually) Notes Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. #J-18808-Ljbffr
