Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Excavator Operator Job Description We are seeking an experienced and reliable Excavator Operator to join our civil construction team. The ideal candidate will specialize in equipment operation, specifically the excavator for installing and maintaining underground piping systems for water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure projects. This role requires expert machine operating skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment on active construction sites. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and backhoes for excavation, grading, and site preparation. Perform trenching for installation of underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm systems. Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes to ensure accurate work. Prepare construction sites by clearing land, digging foundations, and leveling surfaces. Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and crew members to meet project timelines and specifications. Load, move, and place materials efficiently to support ongoing operations. Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance to ensure safe operation. Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines on site. Assist with backfilling, compaction, and final grading to ensure proper site finishing. Identify and report hazards or issues to maintain a safe and productive work environment. Work collaboratively with equipment operators, laborers, and foremen. Essential Skills 5+ years of experience as an Excavator Operator in civil construction. Experience with underground utilities (water, sewer, drainage systems). Mainlining experience. Knowledge of trench safety, shoring, and excavation best practices. Valid driver’s license. Additional Skills & Qualifications Civil construction experience. Pipe laying experience. Work Environment Work primarily in locations such as Horseshoe Bay to Langley, and Langley to Vancouver. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm, with a 30-minute paid break. The role involves outdoor construction in various weather conditions and frequent lifting of heavy materials, up to 50 lbs or more. Potential for overtime, weekends, and early morning starts based on project needs. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Vancouver, BC.
