II. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Reporting to Eddie Jurinic and Justin Pellicciotta, the Senior Estimator will be responsible to deliver properly organized estimates, budgets, and proformas and ensure the necessary systems and procedures are in place and implemented to manage Pine Glen’s Risk.
Iii. Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Determine Standard and Project Specific Labour & Equipment rates to be carried in estimates
Establish and maintain Unit Price database
Provide estimating leadership to Business Development opportunities
Maintain files and correspondence on active project estimates
Develop and maintains positive relationships with clients, consultants and sub-trades
Maintain estimating department policies, procedures and standards
Assess and update “Bid” Contract Documents
Responsible for accuracy of tender submissions
Review specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
Provide Value engineering. Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials
Be the “strategy maker” on estimates and provide strategy to “win the bid”
Provide overall Risk Analysis and ensure Pine Glen’s Risk is managed as per policies
Identify overall risk areas and bring them to attention of Justin and Eddie
Computes cost estimates of raw materials, purchased equipment or subcontracted work and labour required
Prepare overall project estimates
Take lead role in preparation of bids and prepare bids
Perform additional estimating related assignments per Justin and Eddie’s direction
Perform quantity take-off from construction drawings
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, etc and control distribution of tender documents
Participate in tender closing i.e., review of documents, compile proposal information, computes cost estimates on sub contracted work if required, cost out potential scope of work changes, costs out potential additional costs claims situations
Prepare Post Tender “Issues for Construction” for Construction Manager in HAND OFF MEETING

Oversees estimating process.
Vi. Knowledge And Skills
Use past experience in the construction industry
Advanced knowledge of assigned discipline, estimating techniques and cost control
Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems are essential
Broad knowledge of scheduling and general requirements of construction projects
Strong knowledge of construction costs

Computer literate – working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

VII. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
Assist Operations Staff in post tender negotiations with sub trades to maximize our monetary position on projects
VIII. EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT
Customer contact dealing with site meetings, project management, negotiating contracts, resolving disputes and general communication
Supplier contact dealing with coordinated strategy development, contract negotiation, project management, resolving disputes and general communication
Frequent contact with the public (Job sites visits, Clients, Consultants, Sub trades)
Develop and maintain positive relations with clients, consultants and sub trades
IX. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Able to perform in a fast paced environment
Prolonged sedentary positioning
Long hours at times
Source operational input as necessary for essential functions
X. SPECIFIC DAILY RESPOSIBILITIES
Ensure FLOW CHART specific duties are carried out on time and with care.
Estimate projects
Compete the tendering process as per corporate protocol
Management and upkeep of production home sector budgets per model
Management and upkeep of production home proformas per site
Available on emergency situations by phone and/or email
Review and follow up with emails in a timely manner
Making positive recommendations to improve corporate positioning
Maintain minimum amount of working hours to ensure work is being completed (Monday – Friday, Saturdays as required)
Meeting all bid and tender deadlines keeping the construction projects on time
Maintaining office up keep
XI. IMMEDIATE PINE GLEN GROWTH PLAN
General Manager of estimation/contracts department in all division
Improvements required to obtain this position are;
Ø Being able handling a substantial quantity of jobs to enable this position.
Ø Being able to project construction budgets with accuracy
Ø Enforcing vendors to adhere to budgets and contracts without allowing numerous change orders and addition costs to Pine Glen
Ø Communication with all sectors, specifically vendors, clients and colleagues to achieve goals of Pine Glen
Ø Display a positive attitude and lead by example
Ø Reviewing jobs in detail to avoid/anticipate possible additional costs or time delays in schedules
