Responsibilities:
Review customer RFQs, engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Develop detailed cost estimates for machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, and engineered systems
Estimate labour, machine time, materials, tooling, outside processing, inspection, testing, packaging, and shipping
Prepare accurate quotations and pricing summaries
Determine manufacturing methods and identify cost-saving opportunities
Obtain and evaluate quotes from material suppliers and subcontractors
Work with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Quality, Sales, and Project teams to validate estimates
Support proposal reviews, bid strategy meetings, and customer discussions
Analyze historical project costs to improve estimating accuracy
Maintain estimating databases and costing templates
Track estimate accuracy against actual project costs and support continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent manufacturing experience
Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machining, or heavy industrial projects
Strong understanding of machining, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple quotations simultaneously
Experience with CNC machining, custom tooling, weldments, pressure vessels, or specialty alloys is an asset
Knowledge of ASME Codes, CSA standards, ISO 9001, CWB, N299, or Controlled Goods Program requirements is an asset
Experience with ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Excel, and estimating software is an asset
