As a student, you'll get hands‑on experience with heavy equipment, contributing to the design and optimization of maintenance strategies for our mining machines. You'll be troubleshooting equipment issues, analyzing performance data to predict failures, and helping us implement innovative maintenance solutions. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and tradespeople while making a real impact on the efficiency and sustainability of our mining operations. Job location: Fort McMurray, AB – Horizon or Albian Sands Shift schedule: 8 days on, 6 days off, working 10 hours per shift Term lengths: 12 months Term start: January or September 2027 Safety sensitive position: Yes Key Accountabilities Assist in developing cost-effective maintenance strategies for our fleet of shovels, trucks, and various support equipment Participate in the identification of equipment bad actors and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement sustainable solutions Support condition monitoring activities by analyzing equipment health data, inspection findings, and predictive maintenance indicators to identify emerging reliability risks Review maintenance histories, costs, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for reliability improvement and optimize equipment performance Prepare and compile maintenance and reliability statistics to support equipment availability, cost management, and continuous improvement initiatives Participate in the development and updating of equipment maintenance standards, procedures, and reliability best practices while maintaining an unwavering commitment to safety and Canadian Natural's core safety values What You Bring To The Role Currently enrolled in bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical or Mining engineering is preferred Interest in heavy equipment maintenance and reliability Motivated and positive attitude Proficiency in data analysis and reporting Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract Required to be physically and mentally fit for work A pre-employment drug screening test must be successfully completed What We Offer Competitive salary Quality camp facilities with multiple amenities available Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta Students may be eligible for relocation assistance pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Student Relocation Policy.
