Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title- System Simulation Engineer - Propulsion / Thermal Management Location: Windsor, ON Work Arrangement: Hybrid initially | Expected to transition to 5 days/week onsite We are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of System Simulation Engineer within the Propulsion Virtual Thermal Management (VTM) team. This role focuses on thermal management systems, including air-conditioning (A/C), engine, battery, and cabin cooling, using primarily one-dimensional simulation tools. The candidate will be expected to independently execute 1D and coupled 1D-3D simulations, from data acquisition across various sources through to analysis and report generation. The role requires close collaboration with system engineers to provide simulation-driven insights, numerical solutions, and recommendations for design improvements. Required Qualifications •Minimum 2 years of experience using 1D simulation tools such as Amesim, GT-SUITE, Flowmaster, KULI, AVL Cruise, or MATLAB/Simulink for flow and thermal analysis •Minimum 2 years of experience in applied CFD, using tools such as ANSA, STAR-CCM+, or TAITherm •Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on thermo-fluid systems •Strong fundamentals in Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, and Heat Transfer •Good understanding of automotive systems and component functionality •Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with a proactive mindset Preferred Qualifications •3+ years of experience in vehicle or powertrain thermal management, including cooling systems, climate control, or thermal protection •Experience in automotive HVAC and engine system design and development •Experience with simulation integration and validation using Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) setups •Knowledge of advanced control algorithms, including classical and AI-based approaches •Familiarity with CAD tools •Experience with optimization techniques and Design of Experiments (DoE) •Demonstrated capability in methodology development and technical problem solving •Experience in controls modeling •Experience with co-simulation frameworks, including: o1D (MATLAB/Simulink) o1D-3D (e.g., GT-TAITherm) •Working knowledge of system bench testing, dynamometer testing, and vehicle test cells Additional Requirements •Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior stakeholders •Strong team player with the ability to work independently •Proven problem-solving skills •High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools The role will be hybrid to start with and expected to be in-office 5 days/ week in future. Candidates need to be based in Windsor, Ontario area upon receiving an offer. All interviews will be conducted in-person at the ARDC office
