Position Summary The Emergency Room physician is expected to work scheduled shifts in the Emergency Department, based on the governance of the Alternative Funding Agreement signed between the Ministry of Health and the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Group. The Emergency Room physician is expected to see patients presenting to the Emergency Room and functions as Most Responsible Physician. OSMH qualifies for ED Mentorship Program through the Ministry of Health. Primary Responsibilities On-Call: Provision of Emergency Department on-call. Participation in any future regional Emergency on-call service. In-Patient: The ER physician is expected to attend codes within the hospital environment. Administrative and Quality: Participation in strategic planning and program development of Emergency services. Participation in ongoing quality improvement and safety activities related to Emergency care. Participation in hospital committees pertaining to specialty and as required by the credentialed staff by-laws. Efficient use of resources. Utilization: Utilization of Emergency Room in an efficient/optimized manner. Remuneration: AFA Agreement. Fee for Service. HOCC for on-call. Qualifications Education: College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). CCFP(EM) or FRCPC is a bonus, but not required. American-Trained Physicians – Fast-Track Your Move to Ontario: Ontario now offers streamlined licensing pathways. No additional exams or certification required if you’re ABEM-certified.
