Duties and Tasks Non-Emergency Transport Maintain personal knowledge and skills, in accordance with the Alberta Occupational Competency Profile (AOCP), to deliver optimum patient care. Safely operate MHS-West vehicles in accordance with the MHS-West Health and Safety Manual, Operational Guidelines, and all provincial and federal regulations. Stock and maintain vehicles in a state of readiness at all times. Work in hazardous environments to ensure the safety of the patient. Work with outside agencies as a team in a coordinated effort on behalf of the patient. Document all patient care, assessments, and skills within the patient care report in a timely and legible fashion. Punctual and ready to respond at the start of the shift. Act in a professional manner and handle conflict situations with good judgment. Follow the MHS-West chain of command. Communication Create and maintain fully completed patient care reports (ePCRs). Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with provincial and federal regulations. Refer all media requests to the General Manager of MHS-West. Report all incidents and complete written incident report forms to the General Manager of MHS-West or designate. Education Maintain educational competencies as required by the Alberta College of Paramedics. Maintain functional awareness of MHS-West Operational Guidelines and AHS medical control guidelines. Actively participate in the MHS-West Quality Assurance Program. Physical Ability Must be in good physical health with no disabilities that will impair duties as an EMR. Considerable lifting and movement of heavy patients. Will need to extricate patients from hazardous environments. Will advise supervisor of injuries that will impair duties. Public Relations Actively participate in public awareness and community education programs approved by MHS-West. Maintain professional appearance of the approved uniform and hygienic grooming standards. Safety Hazards Exposure to violent behaviour Traffic hazards Communicable diseases Extreme weather conditions Qualifications High School Diploma or G.E.D. Alberta Operators License class 1, 2 or 4. Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics. Completion of Alberta Health Services MCPs. Licenses / Certifications Certified in and maintains CPR certification. Current registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics. FARE Certificate required. Salary and Schedule Salary: $22.41 - $26.19 per hour, as per MHSW Central Alberta Collective Agreement.
