Sturgeon Public Schools is currently seeking a Part-Time Temporary Elementary Teacher for a work assignment at Guthrie School. Located on CFB Edmonton Garrison military base, Guthrie School is just minutes north of Edmonton and St. Albert. The school serves approximately 300 students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 9 with a team of 40 staff. Guthrie is known for fostering critical thinking, engagement, and creativity in problem-solving, while providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to reach their full potential. Teachers play a foundational role in shaping both student learning and student well-being. This position directly influences how students experience school each day academically, socially, and emotionally. Through intentional instruction, strong relationships, and inclusive practices, you help create the conditions where every learner feels seen, supported, and capable of success. What You'll Be Doing Teaching elementary English Language Arts and Mathematics Provide engaging and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment Use a variety of instructional strategies and technologies to enhance learning Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues Contribute to school initiatives and the broader school community What Success Looks Like Students are actively engaged in meaningful, differentiated learning experiences A safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture is consistently maintained Instruction is responsive to student needs and reflects strong pedagogical practice Students demonstrate academic growth and increased confidence over time Strong, trusting relationships are built with students, families, and colleagues Classroom routines and expectations are clear, consistent, and supportive of learning Instructional technology is used effectively to enhance engagement and understanding You contribute positively to school culture and collaborate effectively with staff and leadership Communication with families is proactive, professional, and supportive of student success What You Bring A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate Experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably in combined-grade classrooms Experience teaching elementary Classroom management that fosters a safe and caring environment Strong skills in using educational technology to support learning Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check Why Join Sturgeon Public Schools?
