Position Summary:
The Electronics Technologist is a versatile team member who uses their mechanical and electronics skills and knowledge to build prototypes, accessories and test fixtures, conduct testing and troubleshooting, write test reports, and provide general mechanical and electrical support to engineering development teams.
Specific Duties:
Builds prototypes, sub-assemblies, and accessories
Tests, debugs, and modifies circuit boards
Conducts product, sub-assembly, and component level testing
Consolidates data and writes test reports
Tests and troubleshoots electrical circuits (analog and digital) to component level
Builds and designs test fixtures and creates supporting documentation, which may include schematics, mechanical drawings, bill of materials
Creates schematics from engineering drawings and design PCBs based on specifications
Conducts failure analysis, evaluation, and repair of power electronic products
Performs hand soldering/de-soldering (leaded/un-leaded) to various size PCB’s, components, micros and cable assemblies
Conducts Hipot testing, leakage testing and ground bond testing on prototypes, test units and field trial units to ensure safety for the end user
Safely works with AC and DC power and energy storage up 600 Vac and 1000 Vdc
Takes thermal images with thermal camera, manipulates photos then uploads images to spreadsheets for analysis
Welds thermocouple wire and applies them to test units for thermal measurements
Sets up, programs, and runs product characterization and reliability tests with electronic test equipment in HALT and environmental test chambers
Builds, maintains, plumbs, and operates water-glycol liquid cooling systems
Loads software into prototypes, test-units and field-units
Procures laboratory supplies and prototype components for current projects and team members
Supports lab 5S program and performs general lab maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
A post-secondary diploma in Electrical/Electronic technology coupled with a minimum five years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
Skilled in power electronics hardware, testing, and troubleshooting
Solid electrical & electronic knowledge used in the analysis process
Good troubleshooting and diagnostic methodology
Good root cause analysis methodology
Very proficient assembly and surface mount soldering & de-soldering skills
Component level trouble shooting and rework
Ability to read schematics and analyze electronic circuits
Knowledge of digital and analog electronic circuits
Mechanical aptitude and an ability to read mechanical drawings
Experience with electronics test equipment and calibration requirements
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills
Knowledge of Altium Designer software and design practices for PCBs
Very proficient with thermocouple construction and proper thermocoupling techniques

Benefits
Base Salary: $72,000 - $82,000 per year plus bonus.
The compensation offered will be determined by experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills.
