Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Industrial Electrician Job Description This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical and automation equipment within a high-speed food manufacturing facility. You will work with PLCs, HMIs, frequency drives, and conveyor systems to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of production lines while performing both reactive and preventative maintenance using a computerized maintenance management system. Responsibilities Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial electrical equipment, including automation systems, PLCs, HMIs, and frequency drives. Perform detailed troubleshooting and repair of PLC systems, including Allen-Bradley SLC500 and Omron controls. Carry out preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Complete regular work orders and accurately document all maintenance activities in the CMMS (Maximo). Monitor and manage spare parts inventory through the CMMS to ensure critical components are available when needed. Install, modify, and maintain electrical wiring, conduit, and related components in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Interpret and work from electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to perform installations and repairs. Essential Skills Proven experience in electrical repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting, particularly with Allen-Bradley SLC500 and Omron control systems. Demonstrated ability to work with automation equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, and frequency drives. Strong skills in conduit installation, wiring, and electrical installations in an industrial setting. Experience using a CMMS, preferably Maximo, to manage work orders and spare parts inventory. Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation. Practical experience supporting conveyor systems and high-speed manufacturing equipment. Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics as they relate to industrial machinery and automation. Capability to work effectively in a noisy, fast-paced, and large-scale production facility on rotating continental shifts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Valid or completed 442A Industrial Electrician certification. 309A or 433 trade certification or apprenticeship completion is an asset. Work Environment The role is based in a large, clean, and busy food manufacturing facility that operates at high speed with extensive automation. The plant contains more than 100 conveyors and a mix of both older and newer equipment, creating a dynamic environment with a wide range of technologies and systems. The atmosphere is noisy and fast-paced, and the facility is filled with the smell of fresh bread and wheat. You will work alongside friendly coworkers in a collaborative setting. The position follows a rotating continental shift schedule with 12-hour shifts: days from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., typically structured as a (3 on, 2 off) and (2 on, 3 off) rotation, including working two out of four weekends each month. The environment requires adherence to standard industrial and food manufacturing safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for a production facility.
