Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: To manage all the units of the dock ensuring the timely and efficient movement of freight on a daily basis by performing the following duties. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Studies the day's work load to determine shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet schedules. Follow up with central and local dispatch to coordinate any special equipment needs and ensure all the proper equipment is in place as well as determining the amount of manpower that is required through discussions with your supervisors · Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists supervisors in solving work problems · Discuss with central dispatch any pickups or late inbound trailers that will affect outbound schedules and adjust procedures to meet schedules · Inspects loading operations to ensure maximum use of space requirements, layouts, positioning of shipments, etc. and monitors the load quality to eliminate or minimize claims · Ensure the nightly events are captured through the supervisors' reports and follow up with them on any problems · Follow up on claims, overages, shortages, etc. identify problems, determine the cause and put steps in place to correct. ie. more training · Manages seven subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 64 employees on the Dock and responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units · Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's polic Accommodations are available upon request for all individuals with disabilities taking part in the recruitment and selection process.
