Curricular Services is a small but mighty part of the Program and
Planning team within St. Albert Public Schools. Curricular Services supports
division schools in literacy, numeracy, French Immersion, pedagogical
practices, assessment and resourcing, and other areas as the need arises.
Division Coordinators in Curricular Services work collaboratively to support
student learning using research and evidence-based practices, and will be
assigned duties as they align to their expertise and experience. The Division
Coordinator with responsibilities in French Immersion will work closely with
the entire Curricular Services team to meet the needs of the division, with
some time assigned specifically to French Immersion supports.
We are seeking an individual to contribute to achieving the following
Curricular Services goals:
Provide all French Immersion staff with
learning opportunities and supports to ensure they feel confident in
applying evidence-based second language pedagogy.
Support the administration of the
Diplôme
d’études en langue française
(DELF) testing for Grade 12 students.
Provide all Kindergarten to Grade 12 staff with
learning opportunities and supports to ensure they feel confident in
implementing new curricula.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the Curricular
Services team to support implementation of new curriculum, recognizing
junior high curriculum implementation as an emerging need.
Work collaboratively with the Curricular
Services team to build and enact strategic plans that focus on the
development of teacher capacity.
Collaborate with school administration to
support schools in enacting their professional learning plans, as they
align to the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS).
Coordinate, facilitate, and present
professional learning opportunities for staff that emphasize the
implementation of research and evidence-based practices, including French
Immersion specific pedagogy.
Provide elbow-to-elbow coaching to division
staff in evidence-based universal practices.
Support the implementation of a division
literacy and numeracy frameworks and the use of screening and benchmarking
tools in French.
Facilitate the administration the
Diplôme
d’études en langue française
(DELF) testing for the division.
Support the ongoing development of staff
French language confidence and competence.
Assess resources based on current research and
evidence-based practice.
Work collaboratively to support initiatives
that enhance the learning experiences of English Language Learners and
First Nations, Metis and Inuit students, as well as contribute to.
Liaise with other professionals and represent
the division at meetings, as assigned.
Represent St. Albert Public Schools’ French
Immersion program at regional and provincial levels.
Carry out other duties as assigned by the
Director, Curricular Services.
The ideal candidate will:
Possess an Alberta Teacher Certificate or
eligibility
Completed or working towards Leadership
Quality Standard (LQS) certification
Completed or working towards a relevant
graduate degree
Demonstrates a minimum of five successful
teaching years in the classroom
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal,
organizational, and communication skills
Attained DALF C2 or equivalent
Candidates selected for interview will need to:
Submit a performance task in advance of the
interview (for example, a short summary of a professional development
experience)
Complete a French language proficiency
assessment on the day of the interview
