Job Title: Dispatcher
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated dispatcher for a reputable client in the transportation industry. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating driver runs for afternoon and evening deliveries, ensuring seamless operations within a fleet of 30-35 trucks.
Responsibilities
Set up driver runs for afternoon and evening deliveries.
Review and respond to dispatch-related emails.
Enter driver runs into Truckmate system.
Coordinate arrival and departure of city P&D.
Print manifests and working copies as needed.
Conduct driver check-ins and ensure all pickups are assigned and covered.
Provide customer service via phone for pickup entries and inquiries.
Handle any driver-related issues.
Validate city pickups and print dock stickers.
Monitor drivers during pickups to ensure compliance with processes and standards.
Control driver hours and monitor road activities to prevent time theft.
Answer phone calls from customers and provide dispatch-related assistance.
Manage interactions with outside carriers during drop-offs or pickups.
Coordinate interline pickups with various partners.
Essential Skills
1+ years of LTL dispatching experience in Lower Mainland/Vancouver.
Strong geographical knowledge of the Lower Mainland.
Excellent communication skills and strong command of the English language.
Proficiency in dispatch, customer service, and logistics operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Truckmate is an asset.
Flexibility with start times between 6AM and 9:30AM.
Experience in fast-paced consumer packaged goods environments is beneficial.
EDI experience, particularly with handling damages and shortages, is an advantage.
Work Environment
The position is office-based from Monday to Friday, with shifts starting between 6AM and 9:30AM. You will work a 40-hour week with an 8-hour shift and two 15-minute breaks. The dispatch team consists of three members, and the office houses 15 employees. The work environment includes parking facilities, requires the wearing of work boots, and offers exposure to a large company with opportunities for career growth and cross-department collaboration. Extended health benefits and merit increases are available upon becoming a full-time employee.
