As part of the expansion of enterprise-wide Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) oversight, this newly created leadership role will provide independent second‑line oversight for RBC’s approximately $1 trillion Personal Banking and Wealth Management balance sheet. The successful candidate will lead governance, independent review, and challenge of FTP methodologies, policies, assumptions, and reporting developed by the first line. This highly impactful role requires deep expertise in Funds Transfer Pricing, balance sheet management, Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), and strong risk judgment. What Will You Do?
Own the independent second-line FTP oversight covering RBC’s Personal Banking and Wealth Management businesses.
Review, challenge, and approve (where applicable) FTP methodologies, policies, and processes developed by the first line, ensuring alignment with internal governance standards, regulatory expectations, and sound risk management principles.
Ensure FTP proposals are supported by robust quantitative analysis, governance, documentation, and appropriate stakeholder engagement, partnering closely with Corporate Treasury and Finance.
Independently review behavioral assumptions, yield curves and quantitative and qualitative inputs supporting the firm’s FTP framework.
Serve as a global second‑line subject‑matter expert supporting regulatory reviews, audits, and internal governance forums on retail FTP matters
Prepare independent risk assessments, executive briefing materials, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of enterprise funding flows and balance sheet dynamics and provide analytical insights and risk opinions.
What Do You Need to Succeed?
Must Have
10–15 years of experience within a major financial institution in Treasury, Asset‑Liability Management (ALM), Interest Rate Risk Management, Liquidity Risk, or a related discipline, including direct experience with FTP.
Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or another quantitative discipline.
Fluent with retail banking products including mortgage prepayment behaviors, deposit tractor technique etc.
Strong understanding of Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), including behavioral modelling, repricing risk, basis risk, yield curve risk, and embedded optionality.
In‑depth understanding of FTP framework and methodologies including FTP mismatch composition and risk drivers, and allocation methodologies.
Working knowledge of fixed income valuation principles and familiarity with embedded option concepts.
Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with senior leaders across Treasury, Finance, Risk, and businesses.
Strong analytical capabilities, including experience reviewing quantitative methodologies, model assumptions, large datasets, and management reporting.
Nice to Have
Experience in an independent second‑line risk oversight, model validation, or governance function.
