Job Description
Reporting to a Team Leader, PI Underwriting and Billing, you will assist Brokers and Customers with complex inquiries and accommodation requests related to underwriting, billing, products, and pricing. You will review and approve underwriting and billing exceptions in accordance with rules and authority levels, handle referrals that fall outside your authority, and communicate rationale on risk appetite changes, product adjustments, guideline updates, and premium dislocation. You will also manage transaction processing for cases not enabled by broker self‑service, including billing inquiries, new business, policy changes, claims alerts, and reinstatement exceptions, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and authority.
Responsibilities
Assist brokers and customers with complex underwriting, billing, product, and pricing inquiries.
Review and approve underwriting and billing exceptions per rules and authority levels.
Handle referrals outside your authority and provide well‑documented business cases for escalation.
Communicate decisions and rationale to brokers and customers.
Process complex transactions not available through broker self‑service (billing inquiries, new business, policy changes, claims alerts, reinstatement exceptions, etc.).
Work with the Center Systems Management team to create and monitor system‑related incidents.
Ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and authority for all inquiries and transactions.
What You Bring
Minimum 1 year experience as an Insurance Representative (required).
Bilingual in French and English (asset).
2+ years of personal insurance (auto and property) underwriting experience (required).
University degree / college diploma or equivalent experience.
Preferred CIP / working towards designation.
Knowledge of Economical’s PI offerings and Guidewire systems (asset).
Knowledge of Economical’s CI, claims and billing systems (asset).
Understanding of property and casualty insurance, auto and property underwriting, and billing.
Strong understanding of Guidewire systems (preferred).
Customer‑service focused with a positive, helpful attitude.
Excellent people, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to coach and provide guidance to others.
Problem‑solving, prioritizing, and task‑management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
