Job DescriptionJob DescriptionA Director of Safety in the trucking and transportation industry is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and promote a strong company-wide safety culture. This role oversees all aspects of transportation safety, driver compliance, and operational risk management while ensuring adherence to federal, provincial/state, and industry regulations. ### Key Responsibilities * Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with transportation regulations, including DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory requirements. * Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews to identify potential risks and ensure operational compliance across all transportation activities. * Maintain accurate safety records and documentation while responding to inquiries, audits, and investigations from regulatory agencies and insurance providers. * Lead accident and incident investigations to determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and reduce the likelihood of future occurrences. * Design and deliver safety training and educational programs for drivers, employees, and contractors to support ongoing compliance and safe operating practices. * Oversee drug and alcohol testing programs, driver qualification files, and risk management initiatives to maintain regulatory compliance and operational standards. * Monitor, track, and analyze safety metr Accommodations are available upon request for all individuals with disabilities taking part in the recruitment and selection process.
