JOB DESCRIPTION
The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) is an organization mandated by the Ontario government to administer the Ontario Travel Industry Act, 2002 and Ontario Regulation 26/05, which governs all of the approximately 1,900 travel retailers and travel wholesalers registered in Ontario. As a consumer protection organization, TICO administers an industry-financed Travel Compensation Fund.

Role Responsibilities
The Director of Operations is a contract role that helps fill a temporary leave of absence and captures a broad spectrum of operational responsibilities. While reporting to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, the individual will liaise with members of the leadership and management teams, including the CEO. This role requires excellent communication and people leadership skills.
These responsibilities are further defined as follows:
A self-starter with a hands-on approach to leadership
Effective coordination of cross-departmental initiatives with internal and external stakeholders
Assist with the organization’s reporting practices
Key Functional Responsibilities
Support the compliance team in the implementation of the Auditor General of Ontario recommendations
Build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties
Assist with the coordination and completion and delivery of the Business Plan
Assist with coordinating policy updates
Assist with overseeing the execution of TICO’s strategic and enterprise risk management initiatives
Use multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations
Facilitate initiatives to free up capacity, improve operational efficiency, and address gaps in operational functions.
Work with compliance and registration teams in coordination of regulatory activities
Assist with ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures
Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the CFAO informed of all critical issues

Strong experience working in an operational and regulatory environment
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management role
Demonstrated leadership and management of teams
Strong computer skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
Adopts quickly to new situations and becomes proficient in organizational policies
Strong oral and written proficiency
Working Conditions
This role may require additional overtime during peak periods
Hybrid office environment with a minimum 2-day in the office
