Mitsoh is building a new generation of clean-protein foods rooted in tradition and made for modern lifestyles. Our products are crafted with a focus on high-quality ingredients, nutritional integrity, and responsible sourcing. As a rapidly growing CPG food company, we operate with world-class manufacturing and food safety standards aligned with GFSI-recognized programs.
We are seeking a hands-on and strategic Director of Finance & Administration to build the financial infrastructure, controls, and administrative systems required to scale Mitsoh into a world-class food manufacturing company and consumer brand.
Position Overview
The Director of Finance & Administration is responsible for leading Mitsoh’s finance, accounting, and administrative functions, including financial reporting, planning and analysis, product costing, cash management, HR and payroll administration, and business systems.
Reporting to the CEO and leading a small team, this role partners closely with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to drive margin visibility, cost discipline, and data-driven decision-making across both the manufacturing and brand sides of the business. This is a builder’s role — equally comfortable setting strategy with leadership and rolling up sleeves to close the month.
Key Responsibilities
Own the full accounting cycle, including month-end close, reconciliations, and preparation of accurate, timely financial statements
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, and financial controls as the company scales
Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, and customer/vendor account reconciliation
Oversee inventory accounting, including raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and reconciliation of physical counts to system records
Manage external accountant, audit, and tax relationships, including year-end preparation and regulatory filings
Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning aligned with company growth objectives
Deliver monthly reporting packages with variance analysis and plain-language commentary for leadership and the board
Build KPI dashboards and reporting across revenue, margin, cash, and operational performance
Provide financial modeling and analysis to support pricing, capital investment, and growth decisions
Product Costing & Margin Management
Own standard costing for manufactured products, including BOMs, yields, labor, and overhead absorption
Analyze cost variances between standard and actual production performance and drive corrective visibility
Deliver margin analysis by product, channel, and customer across DTC, retail, and distributor networks
Partner with operations and supply chain on COGS reduction, waste, and yield improvement initiatives
Manage revenue recognition and channel-specific billing across DTC, retail, and distributor accounts
Track and validate trade spend, promotions, chargebacks, and distributor deductions
Support commercial teams with customer profitability analysis and pricing guidance
Monitor and reconcile e-commerce platform payouts, fees, and settlements
Cash Management & Treasury
Own cash flow forecasting and working capital management, including inventory, receivables, and payables cycles
Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing arrangements
Support capital raising, government funding programs, and grant applications as required
Ensure disciplined spend management and approval controls across the organization
HR & Payroll Administration
Administer payroll, group benefits, and related remittances and filings
Oversee employee onboarding, offboarding, records, and HR policy administration
Ensure compliance with employment standards and related regulatory requirements
Support leadership on compensation planning and people-related processes as the team grows
Business Systems & IT Administration
Own the company’s ERP and financial systems, ensuring data integrity and effective integration across order management, inventory, and accounting
Manage software subscriptions, IT vendors, and technology spend
Drive automation and process improvement across finance and administrative workflows
Support the selection and implementation of new systems as the company scales
Leadership & Team Development
Build, lead, and develop the finance and administration team
Establish clear processes, documentation, and cross-training across the function
Serve as a trusted business partner to the CEO and leadership team
Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
8–10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership roles within a CPG food or beverage manufacturing environment
Strong experience with product costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing finance
Experience across DTC, retail, and distributor channels, including trade spend and deduction management
Proven track record leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for a growing company
Experience administering payroll, benefits, and HR processes in a small-to-mid-size company
Strong ERP and systems experience, including implementations or integrations
Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills
Core Competencies
Financial leadership and business partnership
Manufacturing costing and margin management
Planning, forecasting, and analysis
Cash and working capital management
Controls, compliance, and accuracy
Systems and process improvement
Team building and development
Clear communication with financial and non-financial audiences
Additional Information
This is a remote role. Periodic travel to Mitsoh’s Leduc, Alberta facility and operational partners may be required for planning cycles, inventory counts, and leadership meetings.
What We’re Looking For
Mitsoh is looking for a builder. The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly operational, and energized by creating financial and administrative infrastructure from the ground up. This leader will bring the discipline, visibility, and systems required to scale a modern food company — while staying hands-on in a lean, fast-moving environment.
