As a Director of Engineering (Mobile), you will lead a high-performing team building mobile applications that help retirement customers manage their financial futures with confidence.
You’ll shape the engineering strategy for mobile platforms across our US Retirement business, driving secure, reliable, and scalable solutions that impact thousands of users. This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide engineering practices, partner closely with Product and Design leaders, and deliver meaningful customer experiences at scale.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead and grow a team of engineers delivering React Native mobile applications and supporting services
Define and evolve the mobile engineering strategy, architecture, and roadmap for US Retirement
Partner with Product, UX, and Architecture teams to deliver intuitive, high-impact digital experiences
Drive improvements in platform reliability, performance, and scalability across mobile and backend systems
Lead security and vulnerability remediation initiatives, embedding secure development practices across teams
Establish and promote best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability, and performance monitoring
Champion engineering excellence through architecture reviews, code reviews, and continuous improvement
Mentor and develop engineers and leaders, fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing culture
Apply and promote Agile, DevOps, and automation practices to accelerate delivery and improve outcomes
Stay current with the mobile ecosystem and evaluate emerging technologies for adoption
Required Qualifications:
Experience leading engineering teams delivering mobile or digital platforms at scale
Strong understanding of modern JavaScript/TypeScript and mobile frameworks (e.g., React Native)
Proven ability to define and drive engineering strategy, architecture, and delivery practices
Experience collaborating with product, design, and business stakeholders to deliver customer value
Strong understanding of system reliability, performance, and secure engineering practices
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with React Native ecosystem (Expo, React Query, Tailwind/Uniwind)
Familiarity with backend technologies such as NestJS, Fastify, or Redis
Experience with Azure cloud services, including AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions)
Familiarity with observability and APM tools (e.g., New Relic)
Experience leading security or vulnerability remediation initiatives at scale

Salary range is expected to be between
$113,260.00 CAD - $210,340.00 CAD
