We are currently seeking a compassionate, operationally strong, and people-focused Director of Care to lead our Health Services Neighborhood.
This leadership role is responsible for the overall direction of long term care; ensuring exceptional clinical quality, regulatory compliance, staffing stability, employee development, and hospitality-driven service. The Director of Care partners closely with community leadership to build strong teams, support resident wellness, maintain operational excellence, and create an environment where residents and team members thrive.
What You’ll Do
Lead long term care operations; oversee quality of care, staffing, resident wellness, and clinical outcomes
Coach, mentor, and develop department leaders and frontline team members; foster accountability, engagement, and strong team culture
Ensure compliance with state regulations, licensing standards, infection prevention protocols, and company policies
Partner with physicians, families, pharmacies, therapists, and outside providers to coordinate resident care services
Support budgeting, labor management, scheduling, and operational performance; maintain efficient and effective department operations
Respond to resident, family, and employee concerns with professionalism, urgency, and compassion
Drive a hospitality-focused culture where residents feel safe, valued, and supported every day
The Ideal Candidate Will
Be a strong clinical and operational leader who leads with compassion, accountability, and professionalism
Have strong knowledge and or work experience in a unionized environment and collective agreement interpretation
Have experience leading teams within or senior living environments
Be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrate excellent communication skills with residents, families, physicians, and team members
Have a passion for employee development, coaching, retention, and creating positive workplace culture
Be confident navigating compliance, surveys, audits, and regulatory requirements
Thrive in a collaborative environment and support Touchmark’s mission and values
Qualifications
Registered Nurse designation with current registration in the Province of Alberta is required; equivalent leadership experience in senior living or healthcare environments considered
Previous leadership experience overseeing care teams, clinical operations, or resident services required
Experience in Assisted Living and/or Memory Care strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of state regulations, resident care standards, and staffing practices
Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications
Ability to lead with professionalism, empathy, and sound decision-making
