Our client is a well-established and growing commercial construction contractor based in Oakville, Ontario. After experiencing significant growth over the past several years and successfully navigating a changing construction market, the company is now investing in its next phase of expansion by hiring a Director of Business Development to help accelerate growth and strengthen its market presence across the GTA.
This is far more than a traditional sales role.
Reporting directly to the Owner and working closely with Estimating, Procurement, and Operations, you'll be responsible for building and scaling the company's business development function, driving strategic growth initiatives, and securing new commercial construction opportunities across the Greater Toronto Area.

What You'll Be Responsible For
As the face of the organization, you'll be responsible for generating new business opportunities, strengthening industry relationships, and driving sustainable revenue growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and executing strategic business development plans aligned with company growth objectives
Building and managing a high-performance sales pipeline capable of generating $20M+ in annual project opportunities
Identifying, qualifying, and securing new commercial construction projects
Building strong relationships with developers, owners, consultants, architects, engineers, property managers, and general contractors
Leading client meetings and representing the company throughout the sales process
Managing pre-qualification packages, RFP submissions, presentations, and proposal development
Collaborating with Estimating, Procurement, and Operations teams to pursue and secure new opportunities
Creating marketing collateral, project profiles, client presentations, and business development materials
Managing CRM activity, pipeline reporting, sales forecasting, and key performance metrics
Supporting the development and execution of the company's long-term growth strategy
Monitoring industry trends, market activity, and emerging opportunities
Ensuring a seamless transition from project pursuit through project execution
What Success Looks Like
Building a consistent pipeline of qualified commercial construction opportunities
Generating significant new revenue through strategic relationship development
Creating repeat business and referral opportunities across the market
Increasing brand visibility and market presence throughout the GTA
Establishing scalable business development systems and processes
Contributing directly to the company's continued growth and expansion
What We're Looking For
7+ years of business development, sales, or account management experience within commercial construction
Proven track record of securing and managing $5M+ annually in commercial construction project sales
Established network of commercial construction contacts throughout the GTA
Experience working with developers, consultants, owners, property managers, architects, engineers, and general contractors
Strong business acumen and the ability to identify opportunities that create value for all stakeholders
Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills
Experience managing complex sales cycles involving multiple decision-makers
Strong organizational and pipeline management skills with CRM experience
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build systems, processes, and scalable growth strategies
Technical trade, engineering, construction management, or related industry experience is considered a strong asset
