Job DescriptionJob DescriptionBuild a National Practice. Lead a Team. Shape the Future of Mine Closure.Our client is a Canadian-owned environmental and regulatory advisory firm supporting major mining, industrial, and resource sector clients across Canada.
They are seeking an experienced leader to build and grow their Mine Closure & Reclamation Practice.
This is not a traditional technical specialist role.
While mine closure expertise is important, the primary focus of this position is leadership, business development, client growth, team building, and strategic practice development.
You will work closely with senior leadership to expand an established closure and reclamation service line, strengthen client relationships, recruit and mentor technical staff, and position the company as a recognized leader in closure strategy, reclamation planning, and long-term land stewardship.
This opportunity is ideally suited to someone who enjoys building businesses, developing people, creating market opportunities, and shaping the direction of a growing consulting practice.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
Practice Growth & Leadership:
Lead the strategic growth of the Mine Closure & Reclamation Practice across Canada
Develop and execute practice growth plans, market strategies, and service expansion initiatives
Identify emerging opportunities within mining, industrial, energy, and resource sectors
Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term business planning
Help shape the future direction of the closure and reclamation practice
Business Development & Client Relationships:
Develop new client relationships across Canada's mining and industrial sectors
Expand existing accounts and identify cross-selling opportunities
Lead strategic pursuits, proposals, and client presentations
Represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and events
Become a trusted advisor to senior industry stakeholders
Build a strong pipeline of future opportunities
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Build, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of closure and reclamation professionals
Support recruitment and succession planning initiatives
Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture
Provide coaching, mentorship, and leadership to project managers and technical specialists
Support staff development and career progression
Strategic Project Oversight:
Provide senior guidance and oversight for:
Mine closure planning
Progressive reclamation programs
Closure liability assessments
Financial assurance and bonding strategies
Reclamation cost estimation
Closure risk management
Regulatory submissions
Long-term land stewardship planning
Closure implementation programs
Industry Leadership:
Strengthen the firm's reputation within the closure and reclamation sector
Identify market trends and evolving regulatory requirements
Support innovation in closure planning and reclamation strategies
Help establish the firm as a recognized leader in mine closure and reclamation consulting
What We're Looking For:
Leadership & Growth Experience:
Demonstrated success leading teams within environmental consulting, mining, engineering, or related industries
Experience growing business units, practice areas, service lines, or client portfolios
Strong people leadership and team-building capabilities
Proven ability to mentor and develop technical professionals
Experience managing multidisciplinary teams
Business Development:
Demonstrated track record of generating new business and growing client relationships
Experience developing strategic partnerships and market opportunities
Strong networking, relationship-building, and client engagement skills
Ability to identify opportunities and convert them into long-term client relationships
Technical Background:
We recognize that exceptional leaders come from diverse technical backgrounds.

Mine closure and reclamation
Environmental consulting
Mining operations
Regulatory and permitting
Restoration ecology
Terrestrial biology
Environmental management
Water resources
Natural resource development
Experience supporting mining or large-scale industrial projects is strongly preferred.
Qualifications:
15+ years of relevant professional experience
Consulting, mining, or resource-sector experience
Professional designation (P.Ag., P.Geo., P.Eng., R.P.Bio., or equivalent) preferred
Qualified Professional (QP) experience considered an asset
Strong understanding of environmental regulations and project delivery within Canada
