Responsibilities
Developing and maintaining program documents, processes, and workflows to support the ongoing adoption of the global privacy program across Manulife’s businesses
Leading the management of privacy issues as they arise, including working with Privacy Legal Counsel, Chief Privacy Officers, and Chief Compliance Officers as appropriate
Providing guidance and oversight on Privacy Risk Management (acting as Line 2) to help ensure compliance with privacy regulatory requirements and Company policies
Support Key Risk Audit preparation, periodic reporting, process improvements, and facilitate change management, as required
Prepare regular privacy reporting and updates to various stakeholders
Support the preparation, review and presentation of compliance materials for governance committees
Work closely with other oversight functions to align / integrate privacy assessments and requirements with their activities, where applicable
Review enterprise privacy testing activities (including test plans, results, and remediation activities)
Ensure privacy training activities are conducted for employees
Perform privacy oversight and challenge of business functions and activities
Support implementation and continuous improvement of the enterprise privacy operating model
Requirements
Detail‑oriented, motivated, problem solver, and critical thinker
Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a related area of study
8+ years as a compliance professional or field with transferable skills and knowledge
Excellent Microsoft 365 skills
Advanced understanding of regulations, legislative processes, technology and related risks, AI (including GenAI)
Ability to manage highly complex matters with minimal supervision
Excellent interpersonal skills who can interact with employees of all levels and across timezones and jurisdictions
Ability to anticipate, monitor and manage privacy risks
Strong project management skills with an ability to understand business strategies and their risk implications, analyze complex situations, reach appropriate conclusions, manage competing priorities, and make value‑added and practical recommendations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong team player, achievement oriented; works well to establish and maintain collaboration across timezones and jurisdictions
A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CIPP, CIPM) (preferred)
Understanding of corporate organizational structures and Canadian regulatory environment (preferred)
Experience interacting with regulators and auditors (preferred)
Ability to think strategically, assess alternatives for short and long-term impacts and act decisively (preferred)
