Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Director, Digital Safety to lead the organization's enterprise Digital Safety program, ensuring digital technologies, operational systems, and information assets operate safely, securely, and in compliance with regulatory and nuclear safety requirements. This strategic leadership role is responsible for establishing and governing the Digital Safety Framework, integrating cybersecurity and safety practices across the enterprise, and driving a culture of risk management, compliance, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will partner with executive leadership, operational teams, regulators, and external stakeholders to protect critical digital infrastructure while supporting organizational objectives and digital transformation initiatives. Key Responsibilities Digital Safety Strategy & Governance Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Enterprise Digital Safety Framework. Establish enterprise-wide digital safety policies, standards, governance processes, and control frameworks. Align digital safety strategy with organizational objectives, cybersecurity initiatives, and nuclear safety principles. Translate regulatory requirements into practical governance, operational controls, and organizational standards. Define enterprise baseline digital safety requirements for systems, technologies, and operational environments. Digital Safety Program Leadership Lead the implementation of enterprise-wide digital safety initiatives across business and technology functions. Integrate digital safety requirements into operational processes, technology projects, and digital transformation programs. Develop organizational awareness, education, and training programs that promote safe digital practices. Foster a culture of accountability, security awareness, and continuous improvement across the organization. Ensure digital safety requirements are consistently adopted across personnel, processes, and technologies. Risk, Compliance & Assurance Oversee enterprise compliance with digital safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements. Establish monitoring, audit, and assurance programs to assess compliance with internal policies and external standards. Lead digital safety incident preparedness, governance, and continuous improvement activities. Maintain oversight of critical digital assets, operational technologies, and enterprise control environments. Identify emerging technology risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies. Regulatory & External Engagement Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, industry, and organizational requirements. Build and maintain effective relationships with regulators, industry organizations, and external partners. Monitor evolving cybersecurity threats, digital safety practices, and emerging technologies. Support audits, regulatory reviews, and external assessments as required. Represent the organization on digital safety initiatives with external stakeholders. Leadership & Organizational Development Provide strategic leadership for the Digital Safety function and lead a multidisciplinary team of approximately 12–15 professionals. Coach, mentor, and develop team members while fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture. Manage departmental planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and workforce development. Drive continuous improvement across digital safety governance, processes, and operational effectiveness. Provide executive-level reporting, recommendations, and strategic advice on enterprise digital safety risks and initiatives. Skills & Qualifications Required Experience Proven leadership experience managing enterprise cybersecurity, digital safety, risk management, or governance programs. Demonstrated experience developing and implementing enterprise-wide security, governance, or control frameworks. Experience implementing industry standards and regulatory frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, CSA N290.7, or equivalent. Experience leading teams within complex, highly regulated organizations. Experience working within critical infrastructure, energy, utilities, defence, healthcare, or nuclear environments is considered a strong asset. Experience supporting Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), or SCADA environments is preferred. Technical Knowledge Strong knowledge of cybersecurity governance frameworks including ISO 27001, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and CSA N290.7. Understanding of nuclear safety principles and defence-in-depth methodologies. Knowledge of enterprise risk management, compliance, and digital safety governance. Familiarity with Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and digital control environments. Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, audit practices, and enterprise control frameworks. Leadership & Soft Skills Exceptional leadership and people management skills with experience leading multidisciplinary teams. Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities in complex, high-risk environments. Excellent communication, presentation, and executive stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to influence senior leadership and build strong cross-functional partnerships. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a continuous improvement mindset. Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and collaboration. Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
