What is the Opportunity?
Aecon Civil, part of Aecon, is seeking a Construction Director, Roadways for the Hamilton LRT Alliance – Package 1: Civil & Utilities. The Director will lead pre‑execution planning and site execution of road and guideway construction in a utility‑dense urban environment, coordinating with design, utilities, traffic, planning and construction teams to ensure seamless transition into delivery.
What You’ll Do
Develop means and methods, sequencing and staging, and general construction methodology for road and guideway construction in a utility‑dense urban environment.
Prepare and staff a construction team of experienced supervisory personnel.
Liaise with engineering staff to ensure constructability of designs.
Develop hiring plans and proactively manage labour relations issues.
Oversee all site execution matters, ensuring timely performance, quality, safety and human performance.
Collaborate with the Project Safety Manager and maintain a positive relationship with client construction counterparts.
Ensure all project execution resources receive required training.
Identify succession plans for key personnel and implement steps to train successors.
Ensure work is performed within quality system requirements and verify supervisor qualifications.
Reinforce a strong safety culture continuously.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team
Civil engineering background preferred, or equivalent hands‑on roadway construction experience.
15+ years of civil construction experience, with a strong focus on roadway works.
Proven experience delivering urban roadway projects in constrained environments.
Strong background in complex staging, traffic management and utilities coordination.
Experience with Alliance, Design‑Build, Progressive Design‑Build and/or P3 delivery models.
International experience acceptable when aligned to comparable urban Alliance/DB/P3 projects.
Strong collaborator with the ability to influence design and delivery teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work under pressure, prioritize competing demands, and support large, multi‑section projects.
