The Capital Markets arm of CIBC serves corporate, government, and institutional clients with innovative solutions and value‑added services. As
Director, Business Management, Global Markets Financing & Financial Resource Management (GMF & FRM)
, you will play a key role in supporting the Business Management function across the GMF & FRM platform. The role involves partnering closely with business, front‑office leadership, and key stakeholders across CIBC to support strategy execution, enhance business performance, strengthen governance, and drive operational excellence.
Business Strategy & Execution
Manage business initiatives, coordinate Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs), develop line‑of‑business roadmaps, and support leadership presentations, dashboards, and reporting materials.
Provide ad‑hoc business analysis, market research, and executive‑level materials for decision making, governance forums, and Board reporting.
Respond to information requests, troubleshoot day‑to‑day issues, and ensure timely execution of business priorities.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
Oversee and coordinate key governance activities across GMF & FRM, ensuring inventories (e.g., Risk Delegations, Authorized Product Lists) remain current and accurate.
Execute and attest to core CIBC governance requirements, including user access reviews, contracts, records management, business‑managed technology, and related risk and control processes.
Coordinate and support regulatory and audit requests, manage remediation activities, and assist with deficiency management, risk and control self‑assessments, privacy incidents, and other governance obligations.
Drive continuous improvement by strengthening internal procedures, controls, and business practices, and escalating operational, regulatory, and process‑related incidents.
Finance & Business Performance
Support financial management and business performance activities of GMF & FRM, including insights on key cost‑drivers, expense management, vendor onboarding, invoice approvals, and financial reporting.
Provide insights into business performance trends to support effective decision‑making and resource management.
Contribute to senior management and Board‑level presentations with analysis on business performance, platform priorities, and strategic initiatives.
Support a broad range of ad‑hoc projects and business management activities across the GMF & FRM platform.
Stakeholder & Business Support
Build strong relationships between GMF & FRM, the Capital Markets CAO team, and a broad network of partners across Finance, Technology, Operations, Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, Procurement, and Enterprise Business Continuity Management.
Act as a central coordination point between the business and infrastructure teams to ensure priorities are aligned, risks are escalated appropriately, and deliverables are completed effectively.
Support leadership forums, governance committees, regulatory discussions, audits, and strategic planning activities, ensuring decisions, actions, and commitments are tracked through to completion.
Who you are
Minimum of 3 years of work experience in capital markets or a corporate development function.
Undergraduate degree required; MBA/CFA/CA is an asset.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex problems and communicate detailed information effectively.
Digital savviness and willingness to adopt innovative solutions and evolving technologies, including AI tools.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Goal‑oriented, motivated by accomplishments, and able to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced environment while balancing multiple complex priorities.
Relationship‑building ability with a wide variety of stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Risk Management, Technology, Procurement, etc.).
Self‑starter who takes initiative, owns results, and thrives in an empowered environment.
