Role
The Director, AI Enablement leads the practical adoption and delivery of high‑impact AI initiatives across Mackenzie front office. The role partners closely with business, technology, data, governance, risk, and sales stakeholders to identify opportunities, shape AI‑enabled solutions, manage cross‑functional delivery, and help move ideas from concept to prototype to production. The successful candidate brings a combination of project leadership, technical fluency, business partnership, and practical AI knowledge. They should be comfortable working with developers, data teams, and architects, and be able to build lightweight prototypes or proofs of concept when needed. The role also supports responsible AI adoption by considering governance, safety, privacy, security, compliance, scalability, and change management.
Area of Responsibility / Key Accountabilities
AI strategy, opportunity identification, and enablement
Partner with business leaders to identify, assess, and prioritize AI use cases across the organization.
Translate business challenges into clear AI concepts, requirements, roadmaps, and delivery plans.
Educate stakeholders on practical AI capabilities, limitations, risks, and implementation considerations.
Cross‑functional project leadership and delivery
Lead complex AI and technology‑enabled initiatives from discovery through execution.
Manage scope, timelines, dependencies, risks, issues, and communications across business, technology, data, legal, compliance, risk, and operations teams.
Maintain momentum on priority initiatives and appropriately elevate blockers.
Responsible AI, governance, and risk management
Incorporate AI governance, safety, privacy, security, compliance, model risk, and ethical considerations into projects.
Partner with governance and risk teams to define practical controls, documentation, testing, human oversight, and monitoring.
Stay informed on evolving AI regulations, safety practices, and industry standards.
Stakeholder engagement, adoption, and change enablement
Build trusted relationships with product, marketing, institutional sales, retail sales, technology, and other business areas.
Communicate complex technology concepts clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences, including senior leaders.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, data science, information systems, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in technology, digital transformation, AI enablement, project delivery, product management, consulting, or a related field, with demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional technology projects.
Working understanding of software development concepts, enterprise technology delivery, data workflows, APIs, and solution design. Some hands‑on technical experience with Python, scripting, automation, data analysis, prototyping tools, or low‑code/no‑code platforms.
Strong project management capability, including scope definition, planning, prioritization, risk and issue management, dependency tracking, stakeholder communications, and delivery governance.
Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and influencing skills. Ability to work with senior leaders, business partners, technology teams, and front‑line stakeholders. Nimble, curious, practical, and comfortable operating in ambiguity.
Preferred
Master’s degree, MBA, or equivalent advanced education.
Experience in financial services, asset management, wealth management, sales enablement, marketing technology, or other regulated environments.
Experience with machine learning, data science, analytics, large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, vector search, agent frameworks, AI platforms.
Formal project management, agile, product management, change management, or technology delivery certification or equivalent experience.
Experience driving adoption of new technologies across multiple departments and helping teams change ways of working.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected annual base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $190,000, which is determined based on skills, knowledge and experience and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for annual short‑term incentive, health and well‑being benefits, retirement and savings plan, paid time off and career development.
