Qulliq Energy Corporation Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is entrusted to provide safe, reliable power to all customers in Nunavut. Owned by the Government of Nunavut and operated as an arms-length territorial corporation, QEC is the sole provider of electricity and district heating in Nunavut. In comparison to other utilities in Canada, QEC faces unique challenges as it operates 25 stand-alone diesel power generation facilities and distribution systems located in each of the territory's communities. Data Systems Analyst (QEC 26-029) Baker Lake, Nunavut Reporting to the Director of IT and working closely with Qulliq Energy's Finance team, we are seeking a Data Systems Analyst to join our IT team. The Data Systems Analyst is responsible for transforming raw data into meaningful, actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and operational excellence. This role combines strong analytical expertise with technical proficiency to design, optimize, and automate data processes, replacing manual workflows with efficient, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate leverages data visualization, business intelligence, and Microsoft technologies to improve reporting accuracy, enhance productivity, and deliver innovative systems that drive continuous business improvement. Duties and responsibilities: Build and manage data models : Develop, validate, and analyze data using advanced Excel, Power Query, SQL, and related Microsoft tools; establish reliable data sources and a clear "single source of truth." Develop actionable reporting and dashboards : Create and maintain Power BI and Excel dashboards, KPIs, visualizations, and reports that turn complex technical data into concise insights for leadership and cross-functional teams. Automate business processes: Identify repetitive or manual workflows and design Power Automate solutions to streamline processes, synchronize data across applications, and trigger notifications or actions. Design digital data-collection solutions: Develop intuitive Microsoft Forms and Power Apps that improve data collection, standardize inputs, and protect data quality and integrity at the point of entry. Build and optimize information architecture: Design and administer SharePoint sites, lists, and document libraries with logical structures, effective permissions, security, and easy information retrieval. Drive adoption and collaboration: Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into practical digital solutions, train users on dashboards, forms, workflows, M365 tools, and promote consistent adoption. Lead continuous improvement initiatives : Independently manage multiple projects from discovery through implementation, applying analytical problem-solving to improve efficiency, reporting, collaboration, and other related business processes. Other closely related duties as assigned. Required qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field. Microsoft certifications (e.g., PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst or PL-500 Power Automate RPA Developer). A minimum of 3+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or in a data optimization role utilizing the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Assets: Knowledge of Nunavut, the land, language and culture is an asset. The ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, and/or French is an asset. A combination of education and equivalent experience may be considered. We offer a competitive starting salary range of $114,153.00 to $133, 360.50 and a northern living allowance of $24,767 per annum. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension program. In addition, subsidized staff housing is available for this position.
