Customer Business Development Manager – Walmart
Overview
A champion and advocate for Maple Leaf Foods and its customers. Responsible for developing and strengthening customer relationships, managing and growing both Maple Leaf Foods and the customer’s business, and bringing category management knowledge and expertise to our customers.

Reach and exceed internal commitments such as volume, profit, and trade spend ROI.
Understand the customer’s strategy and build strong relationships beyond daily transactional interactions.
Achieve profitable growth through understanding and manipulating key sales fundamentals: distribution, pricing, promotion, and display.
Lead the complete sales process through joint business planning, negotiation, forecasting, trade fund management, volume incentive planning, gap‑closing, and business reviews.
Sell in a fact‑based way utilizing data sources such as Nielsen and IRI to diagnose the business and turn insights into selling strategies.
Demonstrate and build financial acumen through understanding and managing Maple Leaf Foods and customer P&Ls.
Acquire deep knowledge and expertise in our products, industry, and category management to become the customer’s consultant on the business.
Exercise strong multi‑functional leadership internally and at the customer by engaging marketing, insights, shopper marketing, field sales, category sales development, finance, demand planning, and supply chain.
Travel locally on a regular weekly basis; some overnight travel may be required.
Develop stretch targets; meet or exceed plans.
Strategically grow a profitable business.
Strengthen customer relationships.
What You’ll Bring
5‑7 years of retail food industry or consumer packaged goods sales experience.
University degree – business education preferred.
Strong commercial sense and industry knowledge.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Creative thinking, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Quick thinking and independent decision‑making in a fast‑paced environment.
